What is the Mayor's Music Fund?

The Mayor’s Music Fund is a charity that began operations in 2011 to address the middle ground between group sessions at school and continued advancement as a musician, increasing access to individual lessons and ensembles. Their vision is that every child who demonstrates significant musical ability, enthusiasm and commitment to learning an instrument is given the opportunity to develop their potential.

The Mayor’s Music Fund provides four-year scholarships to primary school children across the 32 London boroughs. The fund currently supports 217 talented children in the capital through a four-year programme that nurtures and develops their musical potential. As Mayor's Music scholars they receive over two hours of music-making and other developmental activities every week in addition to numerous opportunities to perform in public and to attend concerts and live gigs.
