New Woodwind Syllabus coming soon
On 6 July we’ll be launching a new Woodwind Syllabus featuring refreshed repertoire for Flute, Clarinet, Saxophones, Recorders, Oboe and Bassoon.
You’ll find a wider choice of pieces than ever before, with syllabus favourites alongside famous classical tunes, music form the world of film, TV and musical, and much more. We’ve also revised the sight-reading and scale and arpeggio requirements to ensure that these important elements of the exam encourage and support progression, while reflecting the needs and everyday experiences of teachers and students. We will be publishing a wide range of books to support the syllabus. These include:
- Exam Pieces – available for Flute and Clarinet at Grades 1 to 7, and for the first time, Saxophones at Grades 1 to 5
- NEW Exam Packs – bringing together exam pieces, scales and arpeggios, and sight-reading material in one place, available for Flute, Clarinet and Saxophones at Grades 1 to 5
- Recordings of selected exam pieces available as audio downloads
- New Scales & Arpeggios books and new Sight-reading books for all woodwind instruments
The new Woodwind Syllabus, books and resources will be available in July for use in exams from 1 January 2018. The usual overlap period will apply for pieces from the old syllabus, but the new scales and sight-reading will come into effect for everyone from 1 January onwards.
