ABRSM will be relocating to the City of London’s ‘cultural hub’, after signing a new lease for an office adjacent to the Barbican. The music education and examination charity is moving to Salters Hall at London Wall Place, as part of its plans for growth and development both in the UK and internationally. ABRSM’s 170 employees will move to the Grade II listed building, originally designed by renowned architect Sir Basil Spence, around the end of the year. The building has undergone substantial refurbishment and will be adapted to meet ABRSM’s specific requirements over the coming months.

We believe we have a significant contribution to bring to their, and Sir Simon Rattle’s, plans for a new concert hall and centre for music education. “London Wall Place will provide ABRSM with several excellent new facilities, including a purpose built exam suite with two warm-up rooms for candidates and dedicated seminar rooms for us to share the latest in music teaching best practice with our 700 examiners. “We’re also proud that our design for the fit-out of the new office will be working towards the highest SKA gold environmental rating from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. The London Wall Place team has also achieved excellent status from BREEAM for its design and construction sustainability.”

“Salters’ Hall has been the headquarters of The Salters’ Livery Company at Fore Street since 1976. It has now been modernised to 21st century standards and sympathetically redeveloped to reflect not only its uniqueness as a modern brutalist livery hall but designed to blend in with the exciting new London Wall Place Development. As the single tenant of the available commercial space at Salters’ Hall, ABRSM’s charitable purposes will work well alongside the Salters’ Company’s philanthropic and charitable objectives.”
